It's the big holiday weekend in U.S.A.
A lot of people take a vacation from Friday to Monday...
I just asked some people to hangout for
The Japanese BBQ!!
There are a couple branches of the franchise Yakiniku restaurant
Brian (left) and Manny (right)
Brian is my co-worker.
I met him at my work.
He's the boxer and now he loves playing football.
Manny is my training partner in Judo.
He's an awesome Judoka (a Judo athlete) practicing with
the two times bronze medalist in Olympic.
These two guys are awful...
Once you guys started talking about anime,
it's tooooo maniac.
I can't even join the conversation sometimes....
And especially Manny.
inconceivably week against alcohol .
He can't even finish a bottle of beer...
I forced him to drink Sake.
This gathering had additional meaning actually.
Manny is leaving Boston soon to get in med's school.
Just keep it in your mind your friends misses you...
Yeah it's about time of the year that
a lot of changes happens for a lot of people.
Life goes on!
Kaoru, the great is here.
The great has been ...
Had terrible sore throat and running nose.
Buying those get headache free, too.
Thanks for awesome treat, Mr. Moody Boston weather!
Byyyyyyy the way,
While I've been sick,
I got second review for "The Legend of Mt. Oe" on
Vimeo On Demand page.
Thank you very much to
for writing the review!!
*his review is here -> https://vimeo.com/ondemand/mtoeogres
He mentioned the film Seven Samurai after watching my film.
That's interesting reference!
I made up my mind to quick summary of Japanese history
regarding to the film and the folk tail.
Seven Samurai is set up around 16th century.
The era is called war period.
Bunch of "lords", who're supposed to serve "Syougun",
who's also supposed to be only a prime general of an emperor,
were fighting each other to be new ruler of Japan.
New ruler does not necessary means,
Next emperor nor shogun.
In war period,
Both of them already lost it's power and influence.
People just tried to be strongest so they can
take control over them.
That's funny thing in Japanese history.
If someone tried to replace them, they wouldn't have been able to
When they can't justify them, they would have became
enemy of everyone.
Haha, it's too complicated politics.
Sounds ridiculous but that's what Japan and Japanese are.
The War period is probably one of the most chaotic era in Japan.
The folk tail is around the end of 10th to the beginning of 11th century.
Still the emperor hold biggest power and might at the time.
Nobility class is more influential than Samurais...
This era is called "Heian period."
Eventually, an emperor and nobilities would lose their power
and it shift to soldiers (Samurai)...
So there are 5, or 6 hundreds years of distance in between.
During 600 years, society changes it's shape a lot, hu?
I can't imagine what the society looked like 600 years ago.
I can't even imagine what it looks like 600 years later..,
There are no more cold in the world 600 years later!
and optionally gentlemen.
Today I'd like to introduce my musician friend.
Sorry, the image is a little pixelly... Damn my I-phone 4!
By the way,
It's surprising fact that
I used to play rock music and playing a rock band.
Or it's not surprising at all 'coz I very much look like
a classical noble man.
I used to lead the rock band
I no longer do that unfortunately.
Now I took the name and logo for my "company."
a company with quotations.
But the logo
is actually shown on top right of this website, too.
There were so many reasons for not doing that at all...
Ryo is my friend since we both went to same school and met in one of a home party.
He is an awesome drummer!
Awesome in both...
skill and professional attitude!
In music school,
There are a lot of skillful people.
only few of them has matured personality and actually behave like a
There are a lot of people like,
accepting an offer and not showing up gigs,
come to the gig without learning music,
cancelling the gig in last minute.
Just saying "oh sorry I know it's last minute..."
Not even say that much just disappear!!
Sick of that type of thing!!
Ryo is not like that.
Not at all!
Once he accepted an offer,
he learns music before first the rehearsal,
knowing your piece better than you know! lol
Funny but it's true!
As a drummer,
he was already a pro in Japan.
He was touring all over Japan under pro contract with a recording company.
He's used to playing every single day.
So his skill is NO doubt!!!
He has great combination of pro-skill and pro-attitude that is
required to all pro-musician but unfortunately
not many people have that.
It's not surprising that
he successfully making his life in pro music industry!!
Last night, he played for the band called
They call themselves:
"Japanese action comic punk"
It is true!!
Their performance was so
The lead vocalist who reminds me of
"Tokyo shock boys"
knows how to make people laugh by MC.
They jumped off the stage and drag all audience into
I enjoyed the show a lot!
It was nice fun moment in a boring routine-based-life!
They have been playing around NY area for 10 years now.
they play in SXSW (South by South West Music conference)
in austin texas!
I went SXSW 10 years ago when I lived in San Antonio...
That was fun.
I went to guitar wolf show but I didn't know about them.
I wish I knew about them at the time...
It was good, I experienced
Even though it was Thursday night,
the venue was packed with good amount of people.
The crowd laughing and smiling all the time.
Definitely good vibes filled up the venue!!
Their fun performance already calling reputation!
It seemed like the performers were so happy doing this.
Ryo, absolutely looks enjoying doing this!
I'm pretty sure I'll come back to their show one more time!
if you look for something really fun with not that much money costs,
I highly recommend "Peelander-Z" show!
This is already May.
Time passes fast like lightning...
By the way, I read an article that says
It is true time passes quicker for you when you get older...
I don't need that!!
Let's forget about it and keep going for now.
Yesterday, I did this
I am NOT
getting high for the injection.
This is my friend/coach Ben Murphy draining pool of blood from my ear.
When you do grappling type of sports,
like Wrestling, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Sambo, etc...
You often get a "cauliflower" ear.
your ear swells up for a pool of blood inside an ear.
SO you drain the blood with a needle like this photo.
This was first time for me to drain,
so I asked Ben to do it.
The picture is taken by
He posted on Facebook and his blog said,
"a walking dead"
about the funny face I made!!
"a walking dead??!"
my heart, my friend!
Here is his blog.
Check it up and follow him if you like it!
Have a good day, everyone!
Just saying random things...
