Kotokuin ~ The giant Buddha in Kamakura~
Kotokuin is the Buddhist temple located in Hase, Kamakura. This place is well known for the great Buddha statue, which was built in 13th century. It has been a famous tourist sites for people over several centuries. A Japanese female poet, Akiko Yosano, wrote "Tanka" poet about the statue when she visited this place in early 20th century. There is a monument of the poetry in the temple precincts.
